My personal Obama approval rating: from 99% to…

There were a lot of really good suggestions for adjustments to my personal approval rating of Barack Obama, which seems to be falling fast, as expected.  (Remember, it started at 100%…a clean slate.)  Many found a way to get Barack down to 0% already, which I can understand, but I’m trying to be as nice as possible (you know, hope and change).  Plus, I’m trying to drag this bit out a little.  So, here’s what I have:

Stimulus package:  As the kiddies say these days, epic fail.  Although I do love how the media is calling it a major victory.  No opposition support except for three senators that are essentially democrats anyway?  Plus, you lose 7 house members?  That’s a major victory?  Maximum deduction.  -10%

Geithner–looking other way on tax problems:  -3

Geithner –job performance.  We will have to try things we’ve never tried before. We will make mistakes. We will go through periods in which things get worse and progress is uneven or interrupted.”  Really Tim?  -4

Tom Dashele, and other tax problems -2

Starting to close Gitmo  -6  He’ll lose the other 4 when he does it.

Delaying trial of USS Cole mastermind  -2  He loses 8 more if this guy somehow walks.

Moving the census–  -3 Rahm Emanuel getting control of the census?  I’m sure the dems would have loved Karl Rove running it.  Once we see the full scope of this, we could see more points down the toilet.

Pitching the stimulus in Elkhart Indiana.  An economic recovery there would mean lots more big gas guzzling RV’s on the road.  Isn’t a depression in Elkhart good for the earth?  Once we develop steam powered RV’s I’ll give him this point back.  -1

Keeping Gates on as defense secretary +7  He should add on an apology for being so completely wrong on the surge, but this is the best thing he’s done so far in his presidency.  Not too many comments gave him credit for this—he deserves it.  At least so far.

That’s it for now, although I know there is still plenty that I haven’t yet addressed.  Obama’s approval drops from 99% to 75%.  Rough first few weeks.  I’m sure Barack is devastated at my lack of approval.

If you’re keeping your own personal Obama approval rating, keep posting them in the comments.  I enjoyed reading your updates.

*UPDATE:  I have to throw in the 3rd time breaking his promise of posting legislation for 5 days, one month into the presidency.  -2

And how exactly are they not including his ‘no lobbyists’ pledge as a broken promise?  Barack gets -2 for that one too.  Now, we’re down to 71%.
